‘The day will soon be here when a box of aquarium gravel will have more intelligence than the entire NASA programme circa 2014. The world feels too out-of-control-ish because too many things are changing too quickly.’
The Age of Earthquakes: A Guide to the Extreme Present
This course explores the idea of inevitability and how designing for the future can affect your thinking of the present. This is to prepare students for the upcoming uncertainty and cross-disciplinary paradigms that the design world is shifting towards.
The subject matter here deals with looking into recent past, understanding and mapping trends, exploring the lateral present, envisioning the near future with respect to one or multiples of 8 speculative lenses, generating a plausible scenario, developing disruptive/innovative solutions or outcomes in response to a future problem/opportunity.
Speculative mindset is the understanding of how to think and prepare for the future which makes the inquiry rich and critical not only in terms of context building but also sustainable application versus time period.
Students in the age group of 13 years to 18 years are eligible to apply.
The duration of program is 18 hours and is spread over 6 Saturday (3 hours per Saturday)
